While I agree that nobody should text and drive a law prohibiting it does nothing. IMO, the law actually puts people more at risk because now, instead of holding their phone up to the windshield while they text, these people try to do it in their lap so the police can't see the phone. Take a look at other drivers the next time you are sitting in traffic and you will see exactly what I'm talking about. I've seen no shortage of people texting and driving in my state since the law went into effect. BTW...it's still perfectly legal for me to eat a Big Mac, while stearing with my knees, so where's the sense in the no texting laws?
Depends on where you live I guess. When I visit other parts of the country where they have strict texting while driving laws, everyone I get in a car with takes it pretty seriously. That’s a good thing.

We don’t have a law against it where I live, and people here are really blatant about it.

The laws are designed to deter you from behaving recklessly while driving a vehicle. You are certainly free to text, eat your big mac, and drive with your knees, and revel in all of your freedom to do so, until it’s you that gets in the accident. Jes’ saying, there’s nothing wrong with the laws, and people should be responsible when they drive. Of all things gubment related to pick on... laws for safe driving seem pretty reasonable to me.

Because an X-ray that the doc can review from his office computer or at home instead of having to print it on film and be there in person doesn't cost the same. and neither costs what they charge. and they get away with it because 'you don't pay it' the insurance does so they charge whatever the fuck they want, and your premiums keep going up to cover that and the uninsured.

In America, most real jobs (even a lot of the part time jobs) come with the option to purchase health insurance =- the JOB part is the key. And if we deport the illegals and finish the wall, that cost goes down as well.

The VA is starting to get smarter about in person visits. I started doing as much as I can over the phone and via video conference and it is so much nicer than having to drive 90 minutes round trip to go get a prescription refilled.

Socialized medicine is already here.
No shit...and it doesn't work.

Doesn't it? Are you sure???

There are NATIONS that would disagree with you. The democracies that have socialized medicine would, as a majority of their respective populations, not understand how you can not see it

. Yes you will find negative people who have had a bad experience but the vast majority of the time they get it right. And it is cheaper because it is not for profit to the highest bidder. That is removed from the equation.

Costs go way down

Quality of life is better for the nation.

You seem to be confusing the freedom to do so with the ignorance to do so. People who get in an accident from their own stupidity (eating, reading, texting, etc. while driving) SHOULD BE PUNISHED SEVERLY FOR IT. If someone can safely drive and text then what's the problem? I can't, so I don't, but the laws didn't make me stop.

I was talking about in the US. There are way too many people here for it to work properly, especially with all the illegals that don't pay into the system. We have a ton of illegal Brazillians in my area and they are all hard ass workers, but they can't pay taxes. Figure that one out...they can get a license, but they can't pay taxes.

I was under the impression that there was a lot of data on car accidents suggesting a high correlation between texting and accidents. Sure, every distraction is potentially dangerous, texting being among the most dangerous.

The problem is the improper assumption that healthcare is a human right.

You have no right to the services provided by another human being - that is called slavery.
So healthcare has to be earned?
What about infants? Do they accrue debt if they get sick before they're old enough to work?
Nobody should have to pay for their childrens helathcare -- that would be socialism.

If you decide to have kids then you should also carry the “burden” of providing for them.

You must have been raised differently than I was.

Nothings free you have to earn it.

I think you missed the point of the reason for not wearing a helmet
I didnt miss the point, I lived the point. Compound fracture of R femur, compound fracture of R Fibula and tibula, Two plates/13 screws in R femur, 1/2 " Diam rod down center of Tibia, 2 ribs moved to femur to replace 4" of femur that was left at scene, piece of hip moved to tibia to replace piece of it that was left at scene, Compound fracture of radial, 1 plate and 5 screws used to repair radial, near casteration because of gas cap, shoulder chopped up like hamburger literalty, and more. But the main point here was, I had a helmet on with three 1/4" scars down the left side of it that showed exactly where my head would have been ripped open. After everything I went thru it was the damn helmet that gave me a fighting chance. I dont care if no one wants to wear it or not, that choice is theirs. I am.

Of course it is dangerous...but so is looking at a map or reading the newspaper. Smoking is also dangerous, but people still choose to do it, don't they? Being free is more important than being safe.

You are talking about pharmaceuticals. I'm talking about hospitals -- and they got fucked by the rona, big time.
I'm talking about hospitals, too.
