Depends on where you live I guess. When I visit other parts of the country where they have strict texting while driving laws, everyone I get in a car with takes it pretty seriously. That’s a good thing. While I agree that nobody should text and drive a law prohibiting it does nothing. IMO, the law actually puts people more at risk because now, instead of holding their phone up to the windshield while they text, these people try to do it in their lap so the police can't see the phone. Take a look at other drivers the next time you are sitting in traffic and you will see exactly what I'm talking about. I've seen no shortage of people texting and driving in my state since the law went into effect. BTW...it's still perfectly legal for me to eat a Big Mac, while stearing with my knees, so where's the sense in the no texting laws?
We don’t have a law against it where I live, and people here are really blatant about it.
The laws are designed to deter you from behaving recklessly while driving a vehicle. You are certainly free to text, eat your big mac, and drive with your knees, and revel in all of your freedom to do so, until it’s you that gets in the accident. Jes’ saying, there’s nothing wrong with the laws, and people should be responsible when they drive. Of all things gubment related to pick on... laws for safe driving seem pretty reasonable to me.
