Are these hermy nut sacks?

I don't think so, but Im no pro. All of my heisen gear has those super swollen, big calyxs, I think Ive seen a nanner or two, but there is no pollen in em. Pick it off and put it back. Break it open when you pick it off and see what's in it. Ive got duck tape over all my lil lights on surge protecters, etc. Makes no sense when you know that light is right there on the plant, prolly lucky, try to make it light tight if possible. Once you see a nutsack on a hermie, you never forget it, but that's not what that looks like to me, but hey, again, lol, Im no pro.

I'd say that is not a hermie sac. Many times, the pre-flower calyx you see in later veg will be this same "over-swollen" calyx you see nestled near the internode later in flower. I've reasoned it is just the late flower swelling you see with most calyxes happening with what was your pre-flower since it had a week or so head start on the majority of the rest.

Here is Chem'91 showing a similar swollen calyx

For comparison, here is a full blown intersex male pollen sac in a similar spot (left). The pic on the right shows when you have the nanners lurking within the calyx (hydrid hermie flower).
ah nuts!.jpg
I'd err on the side of it not being a hermie, but as @Bodyne suggests, just pull it off and dissect.

I third that. That's the primordia and it's perfectly normal. Males will have staminate primordias while females will have what you're seeing, pistillate primordias. When pollinating plants, you'll typically get some really nice, plump seeds inside of those as well. Like Bodyne mentioned, you can always pluck to off, but I always leave mine on.

I am nut sack paranoid....plant maleophobic.
That’s where they grow from just keep an eye on it for the yellow banner sticking Out of it then pluck the Whole pod right off and put it back is what I did on my last few runs. My last run had a nanner clump under every bud site🤮. Surprisingly I think I got them all cause I got no seeds so far. Or maybe they were all blanks idk. I got lucky so far u seem to be in the clear too

So hairs coming out is not a sure-fire indicator of female. I am seeing a few of these as well right now. They're tight and not opened up yet, I don't think I saw bananas.
Sure fire, No. But they're part of the plants structure and are perfectly normally. You would still want to be diligent just as you always would be in watching for hermaphroditism during your grow. But they're not something that indicates a likely hood or higher possibility of nanners if that makes sense.

@Phylex what are your thoughts on the small red lights on the power bar during the dark period. I have never covered mine. While i did have a few herm issues a while back with some cannaventure gear i believe that was genetics. I guess i should cover them to be on the safe side. @Schwaggy P if you like please weigh in on the subject as well.

I'm not personally convinced the low level light output from a tiny indicator on our equipment would be enough to disrupt the light cycles. That's just my opinion. With that said, I've always covered all of mine because of what I read early on and haven't changed my practice regarding it.

I've never tested whether it makes any difference, just always taped over them.

Related story: I had one tray that kept popping nanners while the others were just fine. I thought it must've been some light leak in the flower room so I hung out after lights out for a few days. I didn't notice much of anything, at first. Then I saw that the LED light above this tray had a very dim glow that you could only really see directly under the light. None of the other LED's in the room were glowing.

Turns out, the outlet was wired in reverse allowing a little bit of energy causing the sensitive LED diodes to illuminate. After reversing the wires on the outlet, the light completely went dark. This was after switching from HPS to LED and there was not enough to fire on the HPS. Fun learning experience.

When I was in my bloom room in the dark the first time i could see the red light reflecting off the ducting. In complete darkness it was visibile light.
Being red probably makes it worse !
And I had a plant herm that was right beside the light and 10 feet from the door to the bloom room where the original leak was. So it was not that light leak.
. It had to be the red light. I would say tape them. After I did taped them its pitch black in there at lights out. Complete darkness.
I am sure I am now on the other side of the seedy situation.
I still learn new shit all the time! I think it will never stop.

I had a herm a long time ago...that is when i learned what they were. And it was white widow. The fox tailingist hermiest strain I ever grew and i bet that prick was from the red light too!

And I learned how to make bubble hash. I have the bags and the buckets so bring on the seedy shit. Its all good. Rosin and Hash for months!

Got me thinking now 🤔 maybe that may be part of the problems I’m having .I’m going to sit in the dark for a while.

Reading stories like these are why I chose to play it safe and just cover the lights. I'd rather eliminate the possibility of any potential problems. I just think of outdoor grows and how it's never truly pitch black with bright, moon lit nights. Without knowing enough to dive into the science behind it, maybe it plays a much bigger role in a tightly confined indoor space.

It's always ying yang with me. I read now many think the low level bean/herm thing showing on lowers sometime is not enough penetration from LED's or anything. Old days we just assumed light leaks and thats why Ive sit in every tent I ever had in the dark and seen what I could, and tape em up. Flip side, I wonder stoned sometimes, how could this be when outside, there are lightning storms, fires, etc, that are much more than a lil bit light shining on a spot on a plant. Those plants don't ever herm.🤔

On another note, I seen on news today, rippers are getting hemp fields, so much of the female hemp seeds growin now look just like decent outdoor, lmfao, I guess it smells the same also. Ive also seen on IG folks are selling hemp buds as high cbd stain herb, lol, so if you are commercial move and shaker, smoke that shit with dude before you take off after acquiring
:p:giggle:
