I've been looking to do something for my veg room tent. It's a 4 x 4. I really like the Bspec but am considering going with four 4k boards, two triple heat sinks and 2 drivers. This way the boards will be more evenly spaced out than the 550 Bspec.

What do you think BP? Veg only, no flowering. I currently use a Hortilux 600 watt Blue. I would like to lower my watt usage a tad but still keep the nodes close.
I would do the Bspec or old 5000k boards. If you can't find any, 4000k.

Got my 300L Rspec in. I'll do a grow in a 2x4 and give a review on it later.

A couple quick things I noticed compared to my 550 Rspec. (My 550 R was one of the old ones though.)
-Smarter packaging
-Came with (4) metal pulley rope ratchet hangers
-The driver is lifted up off the plate
-The plate is powder coated
-Went to an AB driver for easier dimming, with dimmer
-Moved the hanging holes so that ratchet hangers don't bind anymore
-Care/Safety manual
-Stamped by who assembled it

Who thinks I'm gonna get a hotspot in the middle using this design?
This is 3k qb132's (lrs 350-36) around a 3500k qb96 (185-54) it is for a 4x4. I will use these lights primarily for flower but I would use em full cycle without the bat of an eye.
The span is 32 inches with 2-3" between this side of the 96 and 1320301201651b.jpg
She kinked a little when I first let the pulleys down. I notched the vertical side to accomodate the criss cross.
I like it,
I mean it IS my idea afterall,
But I dono. I was being cheap and decided to squeeze 3 pieces at 32" out an 8' piece or 96" it layed out fairly well but if I had it to do over again I would change v2. We will see how she flowers. 2 Topanga, 1 wed dub, 3 dbb, and 4 grape sato/lvtk.
I think I got that last one right.

The self tapping screws were 1/2" but that doesnt allow for many threads after the first 1/8" being a drillpoint. Then the qb132 is 1/16" and the angle is 1/16".
I will revamp it and add some long screws and end pieces. But that is IF it doesnt burn TF outta the middle of my tent.

You really don’t need this BP, and I can tell you don’t like or want it. So I tell ya what, just send it to ME. 👍

No offense, but that has got a huge center hot spot.
I'm a carpenter electrician all around handy man. I thought about this design as opposed to a rectangle or square. I wanted to challenge myself. I dont jave time for challenges. I leave @ 5am. I'm home @5pm. I have a wife kid and a life outside my hobby.
I'm here for constructive criticism. I have angle to redo it. But I'm hoping I can get a harvest outta her as is. If not. I have the two other qb132's 3k and 4k. I am flushing now so I can use them but I wanted to add reds to the 3k light and use the 4k to start my outies. But we shall see

Put the qb96 in the center and the qb132s in the center of each 2x2 kinda like a x . My only suggestion.

If t each light does 2 x2 area and you get the par readings from the light in each corner and side. Then if they are over lapping would u just add the numbers that are overlapping and that would be your new par reading for that overlapping area? I hope I said this right lol

Looks like a nicely built light. Have they always used powder coat on the aluminum plate? Seems like anodize would transfer heat better.

The older one I got was anodized. I agree.
I think they really don't use a whole lot of cooling. If they did there would be some sort of heat transfer material in between. We'd be seeing extruded heat plates, and we aren't, so it must not be that big of a deal.

@TerpyTyrone again I meant no offense. It wasn't my opinion about the hot spot, I've dabbled in par and some builds, myself. I've learned a lot about these led's we use.

Basically, yes. But it isn't exactly the same, because the light is coming from different angles, which is better, imo.

Hey do u think two 240's 301bs will be enough to flower my 4x4 or will I need a third ? Also I have a lux app what numbers should I be trying to hit in flower 50,000?

If you are talking about the 288QB's, I would't run less than four of those boards in a 4x4 at 600w. Like was said above, one board over each 2x2 area. I like to push them out a few more inches than that though, to get that par into the corners more. It evens it out a lot more from the center getting all four boards.

As far as the lumens/lux, I'm not sure. I'd look at HID and see what lumens those guys liked, and try to get that.

Yeah they are double so two would be four boards , so I will need a third which will be six . 720 total watts . I wonder if my yeilds will be better than the 3 I have going at 1050 total watts ?? Guess we will see . I have high hopes I would like to switch to all QBs eventually
