But as far as the plug and play option goes what’s your opinion on the light? So I have a 800 dollar gift card I can only use at Home Depot and thy happen to sell the 550 rspec. It seems pricey for it being only about 500 w real draw but it claims it can flower a 5x5 space

Oh yes it can do a 5 x 5. It is essentially the same as mine but mine puts out 576 watts due to mine are 2 separate boards on 2 drivers instead of just one driver. I've heard good reviews on that same light, can't go wrong with it, just would be cheaper if you did the diy version. Use that gift card

What would the total be $ ballpark? If it more than 150 cheaper I might have to build

You might not be satisfied with it in a 5x5. I don’t have a 550, but I do have a 600 and I want more for my 4x4s. And I agree, for the watt/$ amount I thought it was high. I might go a DIY route with Ty or just do it because you have the card. I like the look/price of Timbers new daisies and thought about grabbing some for the corners and to really bling it out.

DIY is the way to go. I got both of mine for under $600 a while back. And they kill my 4x4. They are even cheaper if you go with the V2 and not the RSPEC. I think one of mine is 3500k and one is 3000k. I would just go with the 3000k if I had it to do over again.
