Wow @Heisen thanks for the punch buggy and the wedding cake S1s on your first drop .. so glad I was able to grab some! Found two keepers on my first seed popped wow! And I am super picky! Also no sacks or balls at any time.. super happy with these results!

Some of those fan leafs are first line of protection. They take the hit first. If they aren’t there to warn me of deficiency's it might be to late for me to react properly. Someone that’s more dialed in with their grows this may not effect as much. I still remove any blocking bud site fan leaves but try to leave as many as possible.

Im pretty lucky as ive never had a sack hanging off of any of my Heisen gear. It might be because i have not grown out as many seeds. What i do is pop one veg for a couple months then flower. Take clones and redo a few more cycles.
Overall i have not had 1 sack that ive seen.

Only one I’ve had that did throw sacks was the adub I tried to run, it was so many that I didn’t bother plucking.. but he also said the adub was giving problems so he discontinued using it! I still have like 5 adub seeds but I won’t try them again..

Yes they will show the defiencies where the plant is pulling nutrients out of those leaves and moving them elsewhere for growth if you do not provide the plant what it needs.

Fan leaves store food and energy for the plant. When times are tough and food and water hard to come by the plant will canabalize those big fan leaves from the bottom up. Thats what they are their for. Also helps in perspiraton in shedding of the water when it is hot.

If your providing everything for the plant then those big fans are not necessary if you are after bigger yields.

Photosynthesis and gas exchange are primary functions of those fan leaves and it could be now that you are supplementing co2 you may need more of that leaf surface to get the job done

That was 1 i grew out also. Just didnt yield well for me so i dropped it. Im planning on popping another one soon though.
The poor yields was more than likely do to very low CO2. I have co2 burners now and plants growth and yields have picked up a great deal.

We can all see on our plants the different sizes of fan leaves. Some are the size of a small kids hands and others the size of a sheet of paper. After a certain size ill pop off those huge leaves as the other 50 smaller fan leaves will get the job done for photosynthesis.

Ive had plants that did not have any big fans but the stems would just look hairy from all the slinder leaves sticking out on em.

When growing bigger plants vs tiny plants those big fans are not necessarily as important.

Another thing is if the plant needs more leaves it will grow them out.

I started plucking big fans off years ago. I had bought some neem oil and followed the directions on the bottle in mixing it. I sprayed it on some gorilla plants outside in the woods. Those plants where 10-15 foot tall. Burned off all the leaves off the plants. Thought i killed em all trying to get rid of pests and havent used it since.
Those plants grew out more leaves and they produced a lot of bud. I had to Stay on top of things because they did not have any nutrition left in those fan leaves in case they did not have enough fertilizer to supply enough nutrients for the Bud development. From then on I started plucking leaves in my greenhouse and plants that were closer to home that I took care of more regularly. That had to be 20 years ago.
Since then i have grown thousands and thousands of plants and always used the practice of taking off big fans when they are not necessary.

How the hell do i know...i pruned the ever loving shit out of under my plant count allegedly and we shall see.

What i must do is maximize the use of power for the good of mankind....

well that is bullshit...i want fat buds and i just cant lie...

i have a 30 plant count....when i tried for 15 i said i would never reach it.....but testers......and lovng EVERYTHING about the herb...well 30 is ok but i rellly want 50

Either way i have to make lots and lots of hash to make it work...i am not making this shit up...

Honestly man the stuff I'm making now is as good or better. All these Clone only moms are strong and check all the boxes. I've tossed out more moms that were supposed to be elite prob more than what I have. I have around 33 moms I'm working with now.
That lemon tree is OFF The fukin chain good. I got one at around 4 weeks flower now and that shit is FIRE

No sacks on any of GPS packs or H's beans. Only had a couple hermis around 2010 that produced a small amount way late in the season. Been hermi free for years. lol
