Believe @socaljoe is a masterblend guy. I was looking at it the other day. Kinda looks similar to jacks in a lot of ways.
I don't have any nutrient loyalty, but I've been using Masterblend for a bit and really liking it.

The two are quite similar, MB has somewhat more P and significantly more K. Jack's Hydro is 5-12-26 MB is 4-18-38.

I think both are great nutrients to use, the only reason I went Masterblend over Jack's is because I bought it to grow tomatoes, and it is Masterblend Tomato formula, after all.

What you doing about extra nitrogen?

Ive mixed my own for a while and decided to try theirs since it was there to try. Ive had it since october. Its almost gone and when its used up thats it on that. Same for the mega.

Even with the mixing problems id still use it for just veg. But the amount of molasses they put in is rediculous. Thats where a lot of your ppm is coming from.
v1 was pretty scummy, made lots of brown slime and floaties

I'm on v2 now and it's much less slimy. I only have to brush out the res once a month now.

I still only feed about 800ppm max their whole life cycle.

I got this email from JR Peters. This is growing hydro in rdwc

Hi There,

Thank you for reaching out! Without a water analysis – I would recommend our 12-4-16 RO formula. This formula contains an ideal amount of calcium and magnesium.

Another one bag option is out 15-5-20 Tap formula. However, with this formula you will want to ensure that your source water contains at least 50 ppm calcium – this formula does contain calcium, but only a small percentage and is designed for source water that has a decent bit of calcium to begin with.

You can find these formulas here:
https://www.jacksnutrients.com/feed
If you are interested in a water sample you can request a test kit: click here - information regarding our lab services can be found here. Once you receive your water test results, let us know and we can assist in finding the right formula!
We also have some feed charts that can be found here: How to Grow section on our website - this will provide an overview of suggested feed schedules and recommended products.
I hope this helps! Let us know if we can help with anything else!
Kind regards,
Dan Gillespie

Megacrop didnt work well for me. I am trying out the Dyna Gro. I think that s what Heisen was using in the Flora flex system. I got the Grow, Bloom, Cal mag, and Silica 8 oz bottles for around 50 bucks.

Anyone run the new sweet candy? Description says it’s now 0-17-28. Seen a post on a forum that says BE is better for hydro, while SC is better for soil. Wonder where coco falls in the mix there, or if there would be benefit to mixing the two together at all. I do use some microbial products in my grow, only thing that has me curious, as they say the SC is good for microbial life.

what was it you didn’t like about MC? I’m actually running both lol, DG in two of my smaller tents and MC in my main tent.

IME sweet candy wasn't a clean nutrient in a res or feed system. It leaves a chalky type residue, dilutes to a milky looking solution. If you mix when you feed it's fine. And I really liked it too, packed full of carbs for micro life, but I dropped it in reservoirs.

Mostly with flower too much N causing clawing, ph hard to dial in, cal mag def. I only have a few plants. I think Mega crop might be a better fit for bigger gardens. I did have success with it by reducing the mega crop and adding some Cal Mag and Fox Farms Beastie Bloom and Cha Ching in late flower. MC did work great for Veg. I only mix a cuople of gallons at a time I guess it would be easier to get the ratios right mixing 50 gallons at a time . I guess thats why they call it MEGA crop.

I am on v2 of MC ( having to add cal-mag). I use both the SC and the BE. i also am in coco. I am adding mycorrhizae and a bacteria early in veg and while i am adding that i use the SC (0.5gr per gallon) as a food source for the mycorrhizae. I take that all the way till around the end of the 5th week of flower. I start introducing BE after the second week of flowering ( 0.5 gr per gallon) . After the forth week i bump that up to 1.0gr per gallon. While i am bumping up my BE i am dropping the amount of MC i use. Hope this helps you and remember you may have to tweek this formula to meet your needs.

have you done this with the new formulation of SC yet? The one that is 0-17-28? Or is this using the 0-0-16?

You know i have have no idea. I threw the package away after putting it to another container. I purchased the SC over a year ago so i am assuming the old formula. All these formula changes are starting to tick me off.
Yeah, I bet that is the old formula.

according to them, the new formula is intended to basically be an alternative to Bud Explosion, with Bud Explosion being for people running hydro and Sweet Candy being better for those in soil, I think due to being a little thicker. They still say sweet candy is better for microbial life, but I premix my nutes in a reservoir, and then use a pump to transport notes into my compression sprayer, so I’m wondering if I would have issues with SC gunking stuff up. I’ve already got a couple bags of BE, But I may pick up some SC just to play around with it as well. my mycorrhizae comes from recharge, which already has molasses added for food, so I’m curious to see if I would still notice a difference. I might end up just using it as food for Mammoth P once I drop recharge out of my feed, which is usually week 4-5 of bloom.

I am no expert in the reservoir department but i was using one on my last round working with the blumats. I was using a product called Flying skull Z 7. Supposed to help keep the lines cleared and i never had a issue of build up in the lines. Not really sure what they are saying about the two products SC and BE just does not make sense i think a lot of folks using these products are a bit confused.
