Hey guys I'm pretty new to indoor growing but have done plenty outdoors , I want to try and breed for the first time , would it be easier to reverse a female or just get regulars for my first time? Also what characteristics do you look for in a good pollen source , I'm really intrigued and want to give this a try but in the least complicated way the first time. You don't skate like Gretzky the first day on the ice right

Good questions and I hope someone with a little experience on the reversing replies. Done a lot of chuckin in the past with regs (males) and regs that produced the rare single bananas making fem seed.
These new methods are of great interest to me as well.

Regs first. Thats just mother nature doing what she does and doesnt really require too much from the grower.
When it comes to reversing a female, its a bit more involved and time consuming than it is to just let nature take its course with males. If you wanted to hunt a male, you could pick out the best one that suits the qualities you are looking for whether it be smell, frost, stature, how it stacks, flower times, height etc. Then you can do an open pollenation and let that male go on all the females, or you can collect the pollen in another room and only dust pollen on the girls that you want to hit with the pollen and save the rest for a future project. Lots of directions you could go, but the easiest would be to just let a strong male of your choosing open pollenate a bunch of girls in the same room for some reg seeds of your own cross. Get a feel for how it all works, how long it takes for pollen to be produced and for seeds to form on females etc.

If your trying to learn and If you know someone, try getting some pollen from a proven Male stud and hit your favorite mom(s) with it and play around with you pollinating techniques. That would be the easiest way to learn but if you have the space and gear to grow out a nice a test group of males that works too.

If I’m looking for a strain with a shorter flowering time , does a male take roughly as long as a female to finish, the balls show so fast I’d think males are done much faster , I’ve only ever had a few males and I pulled them as soon as I seen signs , just don’t wanna fu k this up lol

The males show much faster and mature much faster as well. The males will have fully developed parts at around 12-14 days usually and will be dumping pollen soon after. The females have to be sexed already and into flowering to have the reproductive parts available for the males to pollenate (usually about 3 wks in). Once pollen has been dropped on the females the males can be removed and the girls finish out like normal. There really is no "fuking it up". Just let Mother Nature take the wheel. Welcome to Chuckers Paradise, and best of luck on your seeds!
