Hello peeps - senior citizen here, I accidentally found this forum after googling "pollen chucker". I've been growing weed since the 1980s, took a hiatus in the early 90s, then started up again about 6 years ago. It's a different world now, for sure. Weed is legal to buy and to produce in my state if you have a commercial license, but a personal grow remains illegal , so I'm still a pirate I guess. I started out growing what I think is now called Northern Lights(?), or maybe UW Purps, but I'm not 100% certain what it was. I knew personally the botany graduate student that smuggled it out of the lab at the University of Washington, but it never had a name that I knew. A bunch of us were growing it indoors in the 80s.

Nowadays I like doing mixed grows of several strains, primarily for personal use and for friends, still growing indoors, with soil as that is what I'm accustomed to, as organic as possible. Anyway what led me here is that I'm interested in doing some unscientific breeding, as I'm sick of buying iffy seeds for $10 apiece. What started me down this road was two years ago I grew a Durban Poison plant that turned hermie due to a light leak in my room. No real harm done but it did pollinate itself lightly as well as some nearby plants. Didn't ruin the crop but I got some interesting seeds that all grew out female. Got some really interesting crosses with the Durban, my favorites being Jack Herer "Durban Jack", and a Durban x Purple Kush. The Durban plant imparted an amazing aroma to the crosses. I'm currently looking at getting some various Sativa males to mess around with. This year I'm doing another mixed grow and have some BC Rockstar pollen so I'm pollinating a branch of Bruce Banner #3, Sour Diesel, Pineapple, N. Lights and another Rockstar plant. Hoping to learn more about doing this kind of stuff, planning to buy another Durban plant and some other land-race exotics. That's my story and I'm sticking to it...

And welcome from the PNW!

The plant besieged from the University of Washington is just referred to as UW or UDub just like the school. I ran it from years back in the 1990s in the Seattle area and then went to sea. I was lucky enough to be asked to work a farm back in 2010ish that had been running it via PDX. I took cuts but quit growing for a year or two so I made S1s and pollen. My roommate split with both and a few years later here they come crushed in a mailed envelope. I got about 30 of the seeds out of the letter.

We should chat or just post pics in a thread. We used to call her frosty and she would be done-done on day 50. Not 49, not 51, but 50. She isn't the easiest to grow and will throw balls if you sneeze in her direction.

Cheers!

What I grew I'm sure was Indica, or an Indica dominant plant. It grew fairly short and bushy but with with huge fat colas covered with white tricomes, the buds kind of came to a point on top. It could turn purple if it got cold but was normally green. Very stinky and dank as I remember. At the time I wasn't really smoking, just trying to earn some coin... in those days I got $300 an ounce & I did pretty well for about 8-10 years.
