Help eradicating ants

Que pasa amigos, I was cutting the grass and came up on these 20' x 20' colonies. There's over a dozen around our property. Some connect together and the sand is really soft making the trees lean. There's a huge mat around my green electrical box about 50' from the house. I want to fuck these guys up before they get too close to my well in case the nuclear option is the only solution.

If you've battled ants outside what worked or didn't? I appreciate any info you vatos may have.

I'll be curious to hear what others say. Borax is supposed to kill em. Something about mixing it with powdered sugar in the right ratio so they take it back to the colony. Straight borax supposedly kills em before they get back to the nest, which in this situation seams like it might be best. I have a couple small, in comparison to yours, i might try that on now that I'm thinking about it. Ex wifes grandma used to use boiling water and just dump it over the nest.

I saw a tiktok/instagram post using red mill creamy wheat, sprinkle around the ants, nom nom they go home and pop.

I've not tried this but I will.

for anything unwanted try vinegar and salt and a little soap for a surfactant to make it stick to them. I killed a yellow0jacket colony like that.

For ants add citrus oil.

Be careful of whet you believe from posts like those, there’s a ton of bullshit spread that I swear are manufactured just to get people to waste money on products. I’m especially suspicious of posts that mention specific brands. I know someone who is constantly on TikTok and when they visit they always mention some of these “life hacks” they see on it and I have to hold myself back from telling them how wrong most of them are.

I've used fire. Not sure I would endorse that just anyone does that though. You have to be careful obviously. Clear perimeter, patrol, prevent-- shovels and buckets ready.

2 methods have worked for me. Both are dangerous.

1. Absolutely drench the hill area with gas and let er rip. You can set tree roots on fire this way. Then it's going to spread uncontrollably. So pretty much not for wooded areas, just out in the open.

2. Build a big bonfire on top of the colony. Use whatever you want to light it, just make sure it goes up real quick to stop them getting away too quick.

20x20 is huge! You might have to make a bunch of smaller wood piles for an area that big.

Just want to say it again, shit can get wild quick and I don't recommend anyone do this. It's just what I've done. Lol

For some reason I have been saving my rubbing alcohol from cleaning pipes and bongs when it gets too sticky. I was thinking about burning it to see how mosquitos feel about it, but now I am wondering what an ant mound might think?

91% iso is mostly gonna evaporate, but that sticky-ass bong-resin is gonna leave a mark! BRB! 😜

Your telling me tapping spoons on my ears won't cure my tinnitus or a simple morning coffee hack wont melt off the pounds?

I considered fire but it's too risky. There are a couple dead pine standing in the colonies and most are right on the edge of the tree line.

I use the salt and vinegar solution to kill weeds around our well and on the driveway.

My shit would look like this lol
my ants live under big mounds. after hitting it with the salt/vinegar/citrus ouil the gras started growing back in a few weeks.

but I just use it for unwanted 'bulk' insects LOL
