Do you have a way to try all 7 colors in the visible spectrum for the background?
White is good, red or blue purple or green might work a little better. Maybe not.
Can you get multiple lights at different angles to take all the shadows away?

Picture taking is key. My photos don't look the best, but I am very pleased with the way the plants turned out. From the looks of everyone's pics there are keepers in every pack, from every cross. All of the members who have posted pics so far have done a excellent job. Its not over yet, I am sure someone is holding out to save the best for last.
