I don't have them in my tents but people do that to prevent the side walls from sucking in when the tent is zipped up.

It's also perfect to have one behind the oscillating fan. It ensures that the tent doesn't interfere with the rotation and kill the fan early.

Day 1 of 12/12 however I count flowering time on budset ya know like most breeders go by. Also I took cuttings just in case I find an absolute gem of a plant.
Yeah, I think thats why most people think breeders flowering times are off by so much. I’ve had this argument on Reddit but it seems like it’s just easier for people to consider their plants in flower the day the lighting schedule changes.

It would be one thing to go by flower set time if we were growing outside. For growing inside why not just keep it a standard of when lights are changed to 12/12? Sure would make conversion easier and more meaningful.
Oh well I guess people just have to be different. Probably why i keep to myself anymore.
This is a touchy subject for some and I got scorched on rollitup for trying to explain it before but it's pretty easy to understand. Plants that are not sexually mature will.not flower. Some plants from seed won't initiate pre flower till 7 to 8 weeks. Some will in 3 weeks. 12 12 won't force a plant to flower if it's not ready. All of this only applies to seed plants. Since all clone plants are already sexually mature when u flip them you can count flip from the first day.
I normally run all plants from clones so 99 percent of everything I have runs 8 to 9 weeks from day 1 of flip.
Seed plants I flipped the same day and have a small handful out there that are just now starting to flower after flipping 5 weeks ago. Those plants would prob technically be 16 week plants BUT from clone they would all be 8 to 9 week plants. I don't breed with any plants that take more than 10 weeks and I only have 1 that goes 10 weeks.
I just had a similar conversation with some dude on Reddit who said he's speeding up flower time by flipping his plants 20 days from germination. I told him he's not speeding up flower time at all and the plant won't go into flower until it is ready. I told him if he's shortening anything, it's the time it will be in veg, because it will just go into flower as soon as it is ready.

I guess it works for breeders/growers that are rushing and in a hurry to flip a plant and do it before sexually mature when growing from seed. That's not normal tho. Sounds like a closet breeder.
I just don't have the space for 300 veg plants with 4 to 5 week veg times. Flipping early you can see what they are gonna do , selections can be made after reveg and running them.back from clone.

You definitely know better than me. I'm just a grower and I'll reference my flower time from when i flip lights.
I guess what muddies the water is when growers think they are breeders and reference their flowering times when buds set.
I think it actually makes more sense to just identify the flower start date indoors in the same way as you would outdoors. Why would you want it any different? If a breeder defines a 9 week flower time, as 9 weeks from the onset of flowers, then what would be the point of starting your flower days counting when you flip the lighting schedule? BTW, I'm saying this as someone who counts from the flip of the lighting schedule but I only really do this because it is more common and I don't want to confuse other growers.

It was/is important to me when shopping for seeds.
Currently i have one strain that within 7 days of light flip is full on flowering. Another strain that i have takes over 14 days to look similar, maybe closer to 20.
So when buying seeds and trying to get a schedule for my grows, this little bit of info could go a long way if it was standardized.
This is probably why i grow from clone primarily.

Indoors, keeping track of the INDIVIDUAL flower onset of each plant is destined to be a hot mess. Most people including breeders that breed INSIDE track when they change the light cycle. Of course the plants will take varying times to actually start flowering, and keeping track of that as a side-note is smart.
Knowing which ones took longer after flip to show lets you know which ones will likely be longer flowering. I think this came up before and you agreed that it was "obvious". If you are only tracking when they show flowers instead of when you flipped them how would you know?

Well I finally got my lazy ass to set up my auto pots and got my first 4 that I flipped a week ago on the auto pots. I have not used the autopots since last spring as I don't have the power to run a chiller during the summer in the bonus room but I have a new weapon. I switched my feed from hydroponics research VBX which I like much to a new system.
Beanstalk CF much like osmacote prills but a 3 part. For a 5 gallon bag you mix 80grams of absolute flower , 30 grams of calcium boost, 30 grams of potassium boost with the soil before planting. Once planted plain water which I do add silica and a root product. While I have not flowered with it I am just loving it in veg with nice green large happy plants. Since no real chemicals other than silica the tank should stay nice and clean which it did not before. I have seen a couple of grows using it and it was well liked. They also had a 50% off sale so I went for it.

I am quite pleased with the zero gravities most are very uniform in size and shape. They should really take off now.
