What they don't grasp is that "mega-marijuana" is usually a big fail after a few years of not turning profits for their investors. They show up and build these giant warehouse grows that employ lots of people in the community to build, feed the workers, house the workers, sell the workers groceries and gas, etc. The ONLY bad thing is that the company does not spend money in the community, only it's underpaid employees do.
The weed they produce will never be able to compete with the craft grower for quality. Everyone that currently spends money to buy good weed ain't changing because marlboro weed is cheaper. People that starrt on marlboro weed may eventually get turned on to the real stuff and move up. And once you have moved up you don't go back.
If there is marlboro weed, it means there is national acceptance of the flower as a basic commodity. People wanting to still make illegal prices for legal weed are not gonna be happy, but they also won't be going to jail for life for selling flowers. It's a trade-off. Curaleaf isn't gonna do a thing to steal money from craft farmers unless it's a crooked ass licensing scheme that the hippies voted for when it first went legal. The loss of revenue is not because Curaleaf drove the price down, it's because LEGALITY drove the price down.
