How come there are so many finalist? I thought it was supposed to be 3?

We used to use total points but then it was changed to only count the total number of likes and fires.
So fires would have been worth more points than likes
Yup, fires count as 10 points and likes are 1 point. I think they changed it to one point for each because a lot of people didn't know the fires put people so far ahead of others.
