Please see my very specific and relevant gripe about "ppm" in terms of nutrient strength above.

Many nutrient companies use ppm = EC x 500. Others, like Botanicare and Chem-Gro, use EC x 700. Another commonly used scale is EC x 840. This leads to confusion and imprecision.

The reason different scales exist is because different nutrients have different EC values vs their actual strength when dissolved. The problem with that is that once we're talking about a mix of nutrients, that distinction goes out the window because we're now measuring the average EC of the stew we've made.

Therefore, I've long advocated for people to use EC because it's the direct measurement with little chance of misinterpretation.
I personally advocate against anything they write on the bottles. Every environment is different and would teach people to read there plants, not the bottles.

I'm not questioning his technique in any way. He's given me great advice just since I've been here.

It's a personal crusade of mine to get growers to use EC because it's universal and not open to misinterpretation.
I agree, most ec meters are default to 500 scale ppm. It's hard to explain to noobs EC so I just stuck with ppm so they can understand

PPM is just mathematically calculated EC. If the person uses the same scale and uses it to know what to feed than it's not really an issue.
True and if the industry would pick one of the scales and stick with it, there wouldn't be an issue.

The problem is that some use EC x 500 and others use EC x 700, as described above. Worse, no one clearly spells out which scale they use.

I have a serious problem with the water bottled nutrient industry because I've the mind fuck games they play, especially on inexperienced growers. Confusing nutrient strength is just one more of their scams IMHO and that's why I ask people to use EC when I'm discussing nutrients with them as it eliminates this confusion.

I frequently hear people say - well, type - that you should “listen to your plants,” and I’m sure that’s true. But the reason you speak plant is because you’ve had the luxury of seeing hundreds of plants with hundreds of ailments, as well as positive results.

When you say some shit like that to a noob, you may as well be speaking Swahili.

Don’t get me wrong: I’m grateful for any advice, regardless of the language.

I’d like to know a couple specific things right now.

1. What the blank should I do right now?
2. Should I be adding some nutrients to the water that I’m spraying on the clones?

What do y’all think about these plants? Some noob subjected to nutrient toxicity, but they refused to die. The two surrounded day the blue line-like object are GG4. The orange gizmo separates the Blue Dream (left) from the MK Ultra, all from ILGM. I’m thinking of flipping them to flower tomorrow. The front 3 plants I’ve been spraying colloidal silver on two branches each since yesterday.05C3DB58-AEAB-42EC-9478-491EA083270D.jpeg
The GG4 looked a little droopy. I fed them yesterday and they look better today.

Wasn't always like this, I started off in a shithole and worked my way up. Plants will tell u what's up. They are super easy to read. One thing I learned you can't keep giving them the same shit expecting different results. If one thing ain't working change it.
I personally never cared for coco cause it was plagued with the same pathogens as every other hydro setup. I personally preferred flood n drain. Stupid easy to setup and manage and the growth was a little faster.
When I did grow in coco you cannot treat it like soil. You can't let it dry out. You have to feed every water otherwise you just leach out everything on the next water.
If I was you I would go with soil next time and work your way up to artificial mediums.

They look way underfed , notice the small growth leaves on the tops and yellowing.
Instead of feeding large and than watering I would give them a lower dose of nutes every watering. Plants that size under good lights I would give them 800 ppm 500 scale every time you water. Coco is hard to overwater if it's good stuff. Use a shower head and a sump pump to oxygenate the water as it's going in. Lift the pots after 24 hours and compare the weight to fully watered and drying out. When they start to lighten up give them another 800 and watch for new growth. If it looks greener your on the right track. If plants perk up and start to green up than stay with it.

Week 4 update:

The girls are doing much better. I’ve removed most evidence of past atrocities, bought them a new house, and a new light, and a new fan, and a new filter, and then cut their fucking heads off.517B2C19-B24C-4064-BC60-7DD9E6BECBA1.jpegD4230004-44A1-4E50-B317-D573BF3B0660.jpegD9F4DE43-887F-418B-9847-60590157A41D.jpeg63A39B16-7C24-427C-885F-87BE3A329324.jpeg482B4EAD-B9DB-491A-9C6D-42987C7008BD.jpeg54008A34-B985-4681-8FFF-707E77DF522E.jpeg7B057B5A-1665-4D7A-AA05-AC6E6BD86064.jpeg
Been feeding them nutes at .9 EC till runoff daily, and removing the runoff immediately, thanks to an article I read that @GreenGrower recommended. I had been just letting them sit in it.
Here’s what’s left of those 6 clones.

Most of them ended up like this.

4 of them together in a mass suicide.
A hat tip to @Zaphod420 for recommending the Maxsisun MF2000 about a month ago for a different application. Looks like it’ll make a nice little veg tent light.

Week 2 update. The first leaves look terrible, but the new growth looks OK. I gave them a little more light, and I think I’ll transplant them to one gallon pots tomorrow.

I’ve also added 6 clones from my last grow. 2 each GG4, Blue Dream, and MK ultra, all from ILGM.

It’s my first attempt at cloning so we’ll see what happens. I’m using rock wool, cloned, and plain RO water. I’m keeping it close to 80 degrees Fahrenheit and 99% RH. Spraying 2 or 3times a day.
Be sure to watch out with Hermie's from that mk-ultra from ilgm just seen a grow where someone had it happen to them. Honestly I wouldn't trust anything that comes from ilgm but that's just me.
