The double edged sword of this is what trait is this linked to. If they start breeding for and selecting for this gene, what are they cancelling out?

It's like with auto's. You want fast flowering with no light schedule? You give up potency because you are adding hemp. No way to argue against that.

I think that some strains/terp profiles play into the resistance because of the presence of that gene already in THC plants - not in hemp.

My main issue with all the hemp research is that the scientists are gonna run with what they know. If tomorrow they were allowed to experiment with real cannabis they would probably start immediately trying to fit that hemp gene in there, rather than looking for similar in the THC plant.
