CloningTips And Tricks

My go to
RW hand cut 1x1x2"
RO water
1ml/L H2O2 soak ph6 spin water out in salad spinner.
Stick cutting in Alovera piece to wet In aloe juice.
80 deg heat mat tray dome.
Hand water with dropper.
Key is to not over water.

Trying a fog cloner, would like to loose the RW. I don't like the fact it can get over wet after transferring to flood and drain.
Tried a pump and misters but had so so luck. May try adding some worm tee. I don't have access to good store bought bennies. I do have composting worms so I have been experimenting adding 2 day old brewed tee to my flood res. Seems to be working. May try it at the cloning stage.
I do have root riots and they work about as well as the RW.

Aerocloner 15 on / 15 off. Get roots faster in summer when water temps are about 29C. Straight tap, no ph, no clonex etc. If they root before the tray is ready I just put some veg nutes in there to start them vegging. Splash of H2O2 a couple times per week (so I dont have to change the res as I am lazy).

I would say 90% succes rate over a number of years. I always take a few extra and usually compost a bunch.

I chuck mine straight into solo cups full of clean coco and water in with a nute solution of about .4 ec.. Never bothered with domes or the sanga bags, just keep humidity up in the 70's and feed two or three times a day.

Though I dont water until run off everytime, I aim for runoff by the end of the day.

Use either the old cheap fluro or a cheap blurple led on 24/0

Never had 100% success rate but probably mid 90's..

Then again I'm a complete rookie with only a few grows under my belt so dont take my ramblings for anything more than that

In college I just put dipped cuttings in labeled styrofoam cups. I'd change the water few times but very high success. I dare you to just try a tub of shallow water with an air stone. Stupid easy. Roots happen.
It’s true. This last year outdoors had around 200 + clones and the ones that had the best root growth were just put into 16 oz colored glass bottles with a little rooting powder. Just have to be careful when removing to not damage the roots.

Granted I probably wouldn’t have been in that situation had my other cloner not shit the bed. I just like the aesthetics of cloners and the simplicity when running high plant numbers. Plus you don’t have to worry about knocking over x amount of containers of water.

Reduce feeding to mother plant in the days leading up to taking cuts. Cuts full of nutrients have no need to grow roots right away.

Make sure the mother plant is well hydrated before taking cuts(soil growers)

Start aero-cloner the day before taking cuttings. Use plain tap water, and add H2O2. Let run for a couple hours, then ph at 5.9-6.0. The next day, double check ph. I don't check PH again.

Take cuts with at least 7 nodes, and about an inch of stem below the bottom node. Place all cuts in water as soon as cut. Once you have all cuts in water, its time to get them ready for the cloner. Cut the leaves off of the bottom 2 nodes. Scrape the bottom 1" of the stem with your pruners, just scraping off the "skin" exposing the inside of the stem. Cut the tips off of remaining fan leaves(approximately 50%) to reduce the amount of water transpired. Dip in clonex, place in collar, and in aero-cloner. Place aero-cloner under weak light.

I leave them alone for 7-10 days and roots show up, as soon as they get hungry. They will yellow a little bit, and start producing roots looking for food. Temps are around 70 and RH around 30%. I don't use a dome and haven't had a problem yet.

Definitely not an expert, and this probably won't help most of you, but should help some newbs.

I was thinking about taking some pics when my HB Ghost OG Bastards are ready to be cloned.

I go by Permaclones tips

They have several of these articles.

Homemade aerocloner, don't use anything but tap water,no dip,no aloe..water.I live in almost siberia so use a fully submersable aquarium heater in the bottom of the tote, set to 73f,no timer.Misters are 360 degree, aero clone collars, some strains will root in a week, some take 2 weeks. But i've gotten a 100% every time

I've been using that method Heisen taught us when he split the plug and then taped the clone in there
Yeah man I get roots quick as fuk. 100 percent. I rarely lose a clone anymore I was just wondering what other guys do.
I been using root tech lately and rapid rooters with distilled water and a heat mat with some domes dustjesus sent me and that shit is straight up fire.
A 1 bulb t5 with lux around 5000 has been the bees knees.

hehe tweezers ;)

I'm starting a semi new method next time I do mine. Going to use KLN and soak the clones for 10 minutes in a 250 ppm solution. I will also soak my rapid rooters for 30 minutes in the same solution. Once the clones are ready I will dip them in a small amount of Clonex and place in my ALREADY split open rooter. No tweezer necessary ;)

Then place them all in a tray, sprayed with R/O water, then covered with a dome.

I'm doing this with my Goji clones only cause they are a bitch to root. Otherwise I cut a clone, dip in clonex and place inside rapid rooter. My Lemon Hash clones finish in 2 weeks with no help at all.

I found adding anything to the water besides just the water I will get soft stems and issues. Rapid start is the worse. That shit is terrible and will also rot the stem off a seedling in a heartbeat.
I use straight water and sometimes I'll make up a kelp vitamin spray and just foliar spray the top leaves till they root. Especially on woody stems that take a while to root.

I looked at that Root Tech stuff you use Heisen. It has the same stuff as the KLN but it seems a lot more of it.

KLN:
Indole-3-butyric acid (IBA)___0.07%
1-Napthaleneacetic acid (NAA)___0.10%
Other Ingredients___99.83%

Root Tech:
Indole-3-butyric acid (IBA)___.55%
Vitamin B1___0.00054%
Other Ingredients___99.45%

Clonex:
Indole-3-butyric acid (IBA)___.31%
Other Ingredients___99.69%

I read up on 1-Napthaleneacetic acid and it seems that is may be dangerous stuff. Maybe I'll try the Root Tech first.
